Väike Päike

Väike Päike Children’s Club started its activity in 2003 as a hobby club for babies and toddlers by opening their own house in Laagri, Tallinn. Today Väike Päike is a network offering different support services for children and families in Tallinn, Harju County and Tartu, consisting of 11 daycares and 2 kindergartens and hobby school. Väike Päike offers educational activities for children from birth to school age.

Parents can support their children’s development by going swimming, exercising, singing, to physio- and speech therapy, and massage therapy with them. Singing, creativity, dancing, robotics, acrobatics, and many other hobby group lessons help to develop children’s talents. We also provide parent school lecture series. We provide services to more than 500 children.

Within fifteen years we have created a motivated and child-friendly personnel, who work in six different places: in the centre of Tallinn, Mustamäe, Laagri, Peetri, Viimsi and Tartu. There are over 100 people employed in different buildings.

We have been acknowledged in the contest Hea Lasteaia Rajaleidja (Pathfinder of a good kindergarten) organised by the Ministry of Science and Education and joined the network of kindergartens promoting health.

Our long-term goal is to be a good partner to pre-school children and their parents together with the local municipality. In connection with that we have tried to give our contribution into the proceeding of the Act that amends the Preschool Child Care Institutions Act and by implementing the amendments move on with the times in the future.

The ideas are promoted by Grete Miilen, Marju Saar and Sven Soomuste.
